About this activity
From its use for therapeutic purposes in ancient times to its legalisation in Australia in 2016, Medicinal Cannabis has been in use for thousands of years.
As highly accessible health professionals, GPs may receive questions from patients and their carers about the use of medicinal cannabis.
GPs play a key role in as communicators in primary healthcare and should be aware of medicinal cannabis, including its use and limitations, as well as common misconceptions.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- List the early therapeutic indications for medicinal cannabis.
- Identify evidence on common misconceptions surrounding medicinal cannabis.
- Describe the quality standards applied to modern medicinal cannabis products in Australia.
